Kranjcar Should Redknapp keep or ditch Tottenhams bench-warming midfielder

A creative Croatian midfielder, unhappy at Tottenham and seeking to move to a new club. No, this article is not about Luka Modric, but his equally unsettled colleague Niko Kranjcar. Nikos agent has recently said that he is about to close a deal with Sunderland for his client, and negotiations have been confirmed by Black Cats manager Steve Bruce.Kranjcar has stated in interviews that the main reason he wants to leave is the lack of first team action available to him at Spurs, a fairly reasonable argument on his part when you consider that he started only two Premier League games last season. But is Redknapp right to give a quality player such as Niko, who was integral to our Champions League qualification two seasons ago, such limited opportunities to play?Redknapp clearly doesnt rate Kranjcar as a first team player, but I think that if he was given the chance he could still play a role in the squad, even just as a substitute. He offers Tottenham cover for explosive winger Gareth Bale, and central midfielder Luka Modric. He has great flair and creativity, is a good cro ser of the ball and has a decent goalscoring record. The last time Kranjcar played over 20 games in a season, he scored 8 goals and got 6 a sists in just 24 games, which in my eyes shows that if he is given playing time he can deliver results.Also, with the Modric-Chelsea transfer saga looking even more inevitable, we need to retain at least one creative, attacking central midfieldplayer. Im not saying that Kranjcar is as good a player as Modric, but if Luka left then Niko would get chance to show what he can really do (and hopefully the money from Modric would be reinvested in a striker who can hit a barn door).However, I think that Kranjcar will get a similar amount of games for Spurs this season if Modric doesnt leave. Unfortunately, Niko does not seem to be good enough for the Tottenham Reggie Bullock Jersey starting XI, and if both he and his Croatian counterpart Luka stay, I just cant see how Redknapp could fit them both into the same team.If Kranjcar was content to spend the majority of the season on the subs bench, and playing the occasional game here and there, I would definitely keep him. However, he has made it clear that he wants to play regularly, which for a player of his quality is fair enough. I say let Sunderland have him, and reinvest the cash into the squad, in the form of a new striker. Maybe even ask for a Kranjcar-Gyan swap deal; perhaps throw in Peter crouch as an added incentive?
